NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
Enrolment:
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers.
Withdraw:
Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Kindergarten - Year 2: 2:00 - 2:30pm
Years 3 - 6: 2:30 - 3:00pm
Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist and Uniting
The Anglican Diocese of Sydney welcomes the opportunity afforded to deliver quality Special Religious Education in Government primary and secondary schools, to students whose parents identify with the faith or have expressed a desire for their child to receive a Christian faith education.

Greek Orthodox
Complements the general education of Greek Orthodox children. Scripture classes focus on an Orthodox way of life and identity.

Islamic -
The program is designed to teach Muslim students the basics of Islam, emphasises on social cohesion and is provided to all Muslims students, regardless of their sectarian groupings. The aim of the program is to teach students to love, learn and implement Islam as upright Australian citizens.

Primary Ethics
Volunteer ethics teachers use detailed lesson materials to deliver a curriculum of 79 topics. Most topics are designed to address particular ethical issues but a number are skill-focused and explicitly teach core critical thinking skills and encourage collaborative inquiry.

During SRE/SEE times, no academic instruction will be delivered or formal school activities. Therefore, students will not miss any class work by attending SRE/SEE classes.
Students attending non-SRE/SEE classes will participate in meaningful activities such as reading, private study or completing their own work.
